Oregon Scenario Planning Guidelines Now Available

Looking for a straightforward guide to how to actually do scenario planning? Maybe some examples of intergovernmental agreements, placetypes, and public meeting outlines? Or perhaps you’re more in need of the nuts and bolts of scenario analysis- things like how to set up a base year and reference scenario and choose the right geography (parcels, census blocks, etc) for your analysis?

Well, have I got a document for you! The Oregon Sustainable Transportation Initiative recently released The Oregon Scenario Planning Guidelines, which covers all of that and more. With contributions from Fregonese Associates and others, it makes a really nice addition to the growing scenario planning literature. I particularly appreciated that the technical appendix goes “under the hood” to dive into the details of setting up and running a scenario analysis. Have you come across any other good examples of scenario planning guides?
